Trash Or Steak?

24 Sep

I have written at length about some of my experiences in online dating. On occasion I have gotten contributions from other victims people who also have some experience with online dating. I got another contribution today.

Having selected another seemingly interesting lady from the endless supply of supposedly compatible women on match.com. I contact her and we exchange a few emails. Eventually I ask if we could talk on the phone. The old “let’s save the wear and tear on our typing fingers” line. She sent her number and I called her one evening soon after.

She seemed nice but as often happens when meeting backwards the phone conversation was awkward with both of us straining to find some common ground, with little success.

We agreed to meet later that week. But as the day of our meeting approached and the more I thought about it the more I realized that we really didn’t have that much in common. So I sent her an email calling it off. Politely. She responded agreeing and thanked me for writing. I figured that was it.

Today, weeks later, I got this:

Interesting that this would show up so long after the fact. I was sorely tempted to write back and inquire what prompted this email and express my appreciation for her rather amusing and apropos turn of phrase.

Thinking twice I decided that I really didn’t want to know if I was the trash, or the steak.
