I seem to be a winner

30 Aug

Maybe you are like me in that you never seem to win a contest. I think the biggest prize I ever won was the three bucks I won in the Connecticut lottery back around 1991. Three bucks is the “prize” you get for getting three out of six numbers in the Pick-6. Woo Hoo!

Somehow today my luck changed. I got an email from the  now defunct DIY Life site telling me that I had won something from their inaugural Give A Bunch Of Stuff Away To Get Greedy Bastards Like Me Reading Their Blog contest. Well it worked, better than I anticipated, I won something.

And actually DIY Life is was a pretty good blog (if you ignore the crap like “Hair straightening made simple” or “Give your headboard new life with a chic slipcover” (no I’m not kidding). So I skip that crap. The rest of the content helps keep my fantasy tool life alive and well.

Note that a fantasy tool life involves watching shows like the New Yankee Workshop, This Old House, Holmes On Homes and other such shows where people do actual productive work with tools.

Me I’m still procrastinating after ripping the wallpaper down in my bathroom three weeks ago. Yes I am staring at badly damaged wallboard with spackle on it. It needs lots of cleaning, sanding, more spackle, more sanding, more spackle, even more sanding and finishing. At this rate I should be done by Christmas.

But at least I have a new tool to help get the job done.
