Vintage B&W Film

A few years ago one of my relatives on my mom’s side sent her a DVD with a bunch of old family movies from the 30s and 40s. The quality was not great and no effort had been made to make nice edits, remove blank or otherwise unusable video. They just squished the digitized movie together in roughly chronological order, added a simply horrendous soundtrack and made a few copies.

Problem was very few people remember who any of these people are, folks of my parents generation remember but since I got the DVD, mom passed away as have most of the people in these movies.

Fortunately, before she passed away mom and her sister Bette worked with me on identifying the people in these movies and were largely successful. There are a few who remain unknown and hopefully even fewer who were misidentified.

While I have been a computer nerd since I first got my hands on a Comodore-64 I am at best barely qualified to edit movies. Fortunately iMovie (the “HD” version) makes it pretty easy.

I have added subtitles that name the people in these clips, mostly for the relatives that are curious.

But enough of this palaver, lets get on with The Blashill Family (early) Home Movies: 1930 to 1945
